I bought my iPad on launch day, I waited in line for 2 hours to purchase what I thought was going to be a revolutionary device. After playing with it for almost 2 weeks I have come to the conclusion that while it is a very awesome device, I found myself not using it as much as I should use a $600 device.

Here's the line.

Here's the iPad
I’m not saying the iPad isn’t a friggin amazing device, because it totally is and if I was made of money I would have one in every room just to play with. But I’m not, I’m a teenager and after spending time with the device I was constantly asking myself “Why on Earth do I need this thing?”
Everyone keeps saying the iPad can replace your laptop and honestly these people are idiots. It’s like saying a swimming pool can replace your bathtub. Yes, you can bathe in a swimming pool but you’re going to look pretty stupid and you’re not going to accomplish very much. The iPad seems like a perfect device for the student, you can type papers, check your email, and access Facebook or Twitter, but in reality it just makes everything more difficult. I tried to make myself love the iPad, I tried to ignore how difficult it was to get any work done and kept believing that this was the way Steve Jobs wanted me to work so i should suck it up and continue to take 5 hours to write a paper that I could type in 30 minutes on my laptop. But I finally realized that I shouldn’t have to sacrifice the ease of use of a laptop just to say that I’m using an iPad.
Alright, that’s enough of me rambling about my issues. To people that think they want to purchase an iPad: my advice is to sit down and think “Do I really need this?” and if the answer is anything but “WELL HELL YES IT’S THE FUCKING IPAD” then I advice not buying it. And if you are going to buy one, feel free to make an offer on mine

So while I understand why you’re returning your iPad, I also understand why I’m keeping mine. It’s not about how it does things, it’s about how well it does those things. Web browsing, tweeting, listening to music, reading, RSS,….all are done better with apps on the iPad.
I’LL PAY ONE DALLA!
So how did Apple deal with letting you return it??
Excellent writing, Brandon! Not “awkward” at all. Will Apple let you return it?
wow i’m glad i decided not to buy one, but work decided that they would buy one for me to use for testing. i don’t feel so bad because i’m not wasting my money.
