Day of Activities and the Portable Ice Maker

Tadd’s grade school was putting on a day of activities and his mom, Tammy was a PTA mother who volunteered to supply drinks for the event. It was going to be a scorcher so she packed up her portable ice maker, extension cord, huge Gatorade coolers, gallons of water, paper cups, and a variety of drink mixes.

When Tammy and Todd pulled up to the school another PTA member showed Tammy where to park her car near the event. She was glad she did not have to lug all her supplies half way across the school yard. Tammy and Todd located their table and started filling it up with the supplies from the car. Tammy got the extension cord and plugged in her portable ice maker first. Then she started unloading other supplies from the car with Tadd. It them forty five minutes to get all of the supplies set up. Tammy had already put ice in her huge coolers at home so she started mixing the drinks. The mother next to her asked about the portable ice maker and when Tammy opened the lid it’s bin was already half full.

A Woman’s Tire Buying Experience

In this economy it can be tough to get customers, let alone new customers. New ones are always the hardest. The other day I was sitting in a tire shop in Mooresville, and I overheard a conversation by two gentlemen that were sitting in the waiting room. They were talking about how business was slow, and asking if that was the same for the other business owners that they knew. I guess they were just trying to work out if there was something wrong with their businesses, or if it was truly what they hoped it would be – a national thing.

I do not know why most people get so annoyed with unaddressed mail delivery since I love it when companies send their serviced and products to my home. To me browsing through the so-called junk mail is a really fun activity since I sit and day dream about things that I might be able to afford one day. I do believe that you can unsubscribe, if that is the term, from unaddressed mail delivery if you do not want your post box to be spammed, but I do not find the need for that. What I absolutely love is when I find coupons in my mailbox, I carefully cut them out and put them in my wallet, and then I never remember to use it; the possibility of saving money is very exciting though. Spam mail in my e-mail inbox is frustrating, but free mail in the mail is great.

Who Invented the Rotary Clothes Line

The Australians lay claim to inventing the rotary clothes line sometime around 1950 but I’m sure it was invented in America, somewhere out west. Some clever cowgirl or cowboy or maybe a gold prospector took a wagon wheel and axial and planted it in the ground in an upright position, the wagon wheel which was just above head height had four or five wooden batons secured like extended spokes which were used for the arms to support a clothesline rope. The clothes line was threaded in a spiral configuration around this, and so the first rotary clothesline was born in the USA.

It’s not surprising that this very useful device has been much refined since then. The Australians can rightfully claim inventing the Hoist which allows the height of the drying frame to be adjusted using a small gear mechanism. Now made in steel the dryer can also be folded so it is sometimes called an umbrella clothes line. This household device has spread from its birth place to many countries around the world.
